Review of: Dream Dots
Used for: Treating Pimples and Acne
Very effective when it comes to treating minor breakouts or single blemishes, although it may not be suitable for people with severe acne.
Around $25 for 48 patches is a pretty good deal.
Ease of Use
Dream Dots are extremely simple to use. Not only do they provide you with step-by-step instructions, but applying them to the skin is so straightforward that literally anyone could use them.
We Don’t Like:
Dream Dots are the perfect option for those who suffer from minor breakouts or single blemishes. As an added bonus, given that they are completely chemical free.
While there are thousands of unique skin disorders that exist on this planet, none are more poorly regarded (or more common) than Acne.
Typified by a noticeable swelling and redness of the skin, acne often results in the development of large painful pimples in conjunction with whole lot of skin irritation – all of which can wreak absolute havoc with your appearance and your self-esteem.
One of the key reasons that the side effects of acne are so severe is that it commonly stems from a bacterial infection of both the hair follicles and oil glands of the skin .
It is for this same reason that it is so damn difficult to get rid of.
As a result, I am always on the lookout for revolutionary new skincare products that aim to get rid of acne once and for all – which is exactly where Dream Dots enter the discussion. I wanted to write this Dream Dots review to share my experience with the product.
How Do Dream Dots Really Work?
Dream Dots are a new type of skin treatment that are said to help you naturally heal pimples and acne, all while simultaneously promoting the development of clear and oil free skin.
Where Dream Dots differentiate themselves from the thousands of other acne treatments on the market is through their mechanism of action.
You see, rather than being sold as a cream-based treatment, Dream Dots are provided in what is known as a ‘Hydrocolloid’ patch, which applied directly to the skin.
Hydrocolloid dressings are quite unique as rather than rely on chemicals and other pharmaceutical grade compounds to treat the skin, they work by creating a humid environment that facilitates the body’s natural healing mechanisms .
With this in mind, Dream Dots work to rid pimples and acne by two distinct mechanisms:
- First, by sealing around the pimple or acne blemish they create a humid environment that stimulates the healing process.
- Secondly, the vacuum that the patch creates draws the infected tissue from within the blemish into the patch, which is then absorbed by the patch itself.
It is also important to note that this patch is almost completely invisible. This means that you use it to treat your skin either overnight or during the day while at work or school, and no one will have any idea at all.
Are Dream Dots Easy to Use on Your Face?
On a rather positive note, Dream Dots are incredibly simple to use. This process can be broken down into three simple steps:
- Clean and dry the area of skin you wish to apply the Dream Dot patch. Tear off one square of backing paper from the pack.
- Centre the Dream Dot over the spot. Remove half of the backing paper. Place the sticky side down onto the skin and then proceed to remove the remaining paper.
- Press down on the Dream Dot for at least 15 seconds making sure to seal the edge of the patch with the skin. Leave on for up to 10 hours.
Who Is Dream Dots for?
To be completely honest, Dream Dots offer a very simple means of helping anyone treat smaller pimples and acne blemishes. If you find yourselves suffering from smaller scale breakouts, or a single nasty blemish, then this a great point of call.
Moreover, as many of the chemical grade compounds used to treat acne can result in skin irritation and even skin damage, Dream Dots offer a much better option for those individuals with sensitive skin.
Who Should NOT Use Dream Dots?
Although Dream Dots are certainly a great chemical-free option for small scale blemishes, they do have their limitations.
As they are quite small (about the size of a fingernail), their application is really limited to smaller pimples rather than a full-scale acne breakout. So, if you are someone who suffers from severe acne, you might be better served looking for alternative treatment methodologies.
Are Dream Dots Effective Against Acne?
I wont lie to you – as soon as I heard about them, I was pretty damn excited to give Dream Dots a bit of a go.
Ever since high school I have always suffered from small breakouts and minor acne flares. While I was fortunate enough to have never suffered them badly, even now I still tend to develop noticeable pimples at least once per week.
Additionally, I find that most traditional pimple treatments are just way too strong for my skin, which can lead to the development of rashes and irritation.
As a result, I often let these pimples run their course naturally – which normally takes about 48 hours (much to my embarrassment).
But this week when I awoke with my normal weekly pimple, I was pretty keen to give the chemical free treatment that Dream Dots provide a shot.
I followed the instructions closely, and applied the patch to the zit (just to the left side of my chin, for those interested). While the patch itself wasn’t all that noticeable, I still covered it in makeup, before heading into work.
While the patch itself is quite small, I could feel it there for the first hour or so after putting it on, after which I completely forgot about it. I can also report that no else seemed to notice it either, which was a bit of a relief.
I worked quite a long day and got home at around 6 pm, and as a result, I had been wearing the patch for a touch over 10 hours.
After I got home, I gave my face a good wash and removed the Dream Dot – and I must admit, I was very surprised.
While the pimple wasn’t gone completed, it had turned into small pink dot that was barely noticeable. It no longer looked red and inflamed, and I really couldn’t see any pus at all.
The pimple was completely gone the next day, which all in all took about half the time as it would normally.
So, in short, I can say that Dream Dots work, and work quite well!
While I wouldn’t recommend Dream Dots to someone who has severe acne, they really are the perfect option for those who suffer from minor breakouts or single blemishes every now and then.
Moreover, given that they are completely chemical free, they are ideal for people with sensitive skin.
They truly are a fantastic option – so give them a go and get back to us, because we would love to hear how you went with them!
