Home Remedies for Vaginal Odor

Vaginal odor is on the top of any list of things that women worry about when it comes to their bodies. No one wants to think that she has a strong and unpleasant vaginal odor. It can make you want to avoid situations where you’re in close contact with your friends or other people due to fear they might catch a whiff.

It can even make you avoid intimate acts with your significant other because you don’t want to disgust them. Vaginal odor may seem like a little thing, but it can have very big impacts on your life. There are some home remedies for vaginal odor that you can rely on to take your life back from this unpleasantness.

#1 Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar is great for cleaning your house and a good treatment for a whole host of medical conditions. This powerful agent is also good for your vaginal odor issues. You can take a bath while adding about a cup or two of apple cider vinegar to it. Soak for about 20 minutes in this bath, and you’ll be feeling rather fresh. You’ll want to make sure that you rinse yourself completely and dry your skin entirely afterward.

You can also add drinking apple cider vinegar to your daily regime. Drink about a tablespoon or two in a glass of water to help balance your pH.

#2 Baking Soda

You’ve probably heard about how baking soda can be great for eliminating odor, and you may even have a box or two hanging around your refrigerator and freezer to keep them from smelling from what you store in them. Baking soda can also be effective for your body odor. You can add about a half a cup of baking soda to your bath, and soak for about twenty minutes to get the benefits of it. Afterward, ensure that you dry yourself off with a clean towel.

#3 Tea Tree Oil

Tea tree oil is an essential oil that has a lot to offer when it comes to health benefits (buy it here) Vaginal odor is another issue that can be helped with this oil. You’ll want to dilute a few drops of tea tree oil and witch hazel with water, and then dab this solution against your outer vaginal tissues. Be sure to dilute it with water as putting essential oils directly on your skin can be harsh on your skin, let alone your very sensitive skin.

#4 Clothing Choices

Your clothing choices could be contributing to your vaginal odor woes. Tight clothing that doesn’t allow for airflow can be bad choices. You want to wear looser clothing that can breathe. Clean cotton underwear should be your go-to clothing item against your vagina. Cotton is great as it breaths and will help to keep the moisture from sticking to your skin as some other fabrics would do. Opt for jeans and pants that are not so tight that your skin won’t be able to breathe.

#5 Proper Hygiene

Hygiene is a huge one when it comes to vaginal odor. There are a number of things to keep in mind. The first is that you’ll want to ensure that there is nothing inside of you. Forgotten tampons and condoms that have gotten into your vagina can contribute to odors. You may find that a piece of condom got stuck or something else. This can seem like a no-brainer, but it does happen.

Next, you’ll want to watch what you’re using to clean your vagina. You may think that those highly scented body washes and sprays are great for your vaginal odor, but they could be contributing to your problem. They can mess with your pH balance. You are better off with a mild soap. Your vagina is basically self-cleaning, so douching and other washes are really not recommended. Really hot showers and baths can kill off the beneficial bacteria, as well. Finally, you’ll want to avoid wearing pads and panty liners when you’re not on your period as these can keep your moisture right up against your skin rather than wick it away.

I don’t think I have ever heard about anyone taking a bath in apple cider vinegar before, seems a bit bizarre. I’ve been having a few vaginal issues recently, so I’ll have to see if I can try out a few of these remedies. I could possibly even hire a professional to give me a consult, just to check up on things.
