Ylang Ylang Essential Oil

Ylang ylang essential oil is actually an ingredient in the perfume Chanel No. 5! It is derived from the ylang ylang flower and has an almost intoxicating floral fragrance. This essential oil has been commonly used for hair thickening over the centuries, but there are so many more little-known uses of ylang ylang.

It gets its wonderful healing benefits from its antispasmodic, antidepressant, antiseptic, antimicrobial, and sedative properties. I was amazed to find out how incredibly useful this oil is. I had no idea this floral perfume ingredient is actually a natural remedy for many ailments, irritations and conditions.

1. Regulate Heart Rhythm

Rub ylang ylang essential oil on your chest over your heart for a more healthy heartbeat. Mix it with a carrier oil like argan oil, coconut oil or jojoba oil first. It should be mixed at a 50/50 ratio. The oil’s anti-inflammatory properties help prevent heart arrhythmia. Ylang ylang aromatherapy can also help. Just put a few drops in a diffuser and run it for 30 to 60 minutes a few times a day.

2. Improve Circulation

Use ylang ylang to improve circulation. Mix it with a carrier oil to a half and half ratio then massage a little into your chest. You can rub it into your ankles and legs, too, to improve circulation there. Ylang ylang aromatherapy can also help with circulatory problems. You can take ylang ylang orally, too. Just add 1 to 2 drops to a glass of water, tea or a smoothie. Make sure you’ve got 100% pure therapeutic-grade ylang ylang (Cananga odorata) oil before you take it internally.

*Get 100% pure ylang ylang (Cananga odorata) essential oil for ingestion and topical applications or aromatherapy.*

3. Lower High Blood Pressure

Massage the 50/50 blend into your chest to lower your blood pressure. Ylang ylang’s natural ability to dilate arteries quickly helps bring down high blood pressure. You can also practice aromatherapy to lower your blood pressure. This oil is quite mild so you can even take 5 to 10 deep breaths of the oil vapors directly from the bottle. Just breathe it in deeply through the nose and exhale through the mouth. The oil’s vapors are absorbed into your system through your sinuses.

Important Note: Whatever you choose for an oil, make sure that the oils you purchase are high quality. Remember, you're breathing this oil into your lungs so essential oil quality is a terrible place to cut corners.

4. Reduce Inflammation

Utilize ylang ylang EO’s anti-inflammatory properties to reduce inflammation anywhere in your body. Inflammation in the joints, muscles and tendons can be quickly relieved so your body can heal itself and function more efficiently. Massage the 50/50 blend into shoulders, elbows, ankles, knees, hips and even your back to get relief and let the healing begin. You can also put 5 to 10 drops into a soothing, hot bath for all-over relief.

*Consult with your physician before using ylang ylang if you are currently undergoing treatment, especially for heart problems or diabetes.*

5. Give Your Immune System a Boost

Use a 50/50 ylang ylang/carrier oil blend to boost your immune system. Apply it to your throat and chest then your abdomen. This is good to do at the end of the day when you go to bed as it relaxes you, too. Thoroughly massage it into your abdominal area. Make sure you rub the oil in over the liver and gall bladder (upper right), stomach and intestines. Coconut oil is a great carrier oil to use for this. It has immune-system benefits, too. It can be a bit greasy, though, so put an old t-shirt on after you apply the blend.

6. Improve Intestinal Health

Use the ylang ylang blend to improve intestinal health and digestion. It will actually improve the health of your entire digestive tract. Do the 50/50 blend massage over your abdominal area to take advantage of this benefit. Make sure you cover the liver and gall bladder to help stimulate the release of digestive juices.

*Use ylang ylang essential oil with caution if you have low blood pressure. It might lower it too much.*

Reduce Diabetes Risk by Including Coconut Oil in Your Diet

7. Prevent Nerve Damage from Diabetes

Reduce your risk of developing nerve damage or neuropathy from diabetes. Ylang ylang essential oil actually protects your cells and tissues from nerve damage. Do the abdominal massage and rub it into the balls of your feet.

8. Put Pep in Your Step

Practice ylang ylang essential oil aromatherapy to alleviate fatigue and get motivated. It can help relieve body aches, too. Put a few drops in your diffuser and run it for 30 to 60 minutes when you are feeling low, take 5 to 10 deep breaths directly from the bottle or apply a drop or two to your neck, wrists or chest. It is a main ingredient in a very popular perfume, after all.

9. Boost your Confidence

Inhale ylang ylang EO vapors to raise your confidence level before an important meeting or a first date. It will make you feel calm and confident enough to face just about anything. Run your diffuser with a few drops of ylang ylang or simply inhale it from the bottle. If you are a woman, put a drop or 2 on your neck, wrists and chest. You will smell wonderful and the confidence boosting fragrance will continually waft up around you. If you begin to feel a bit nervous, take a few deep sniffs from your wrist.

Do THIS Every Morning with Coconut Oil

10. Relieve Tension

Practice ylang ylang essential oil aromatherapy to relieve tension. Run your diffuser with a few drops of oil for 30 to 60 minutes and feel your tension melt away. You can also put 5 to 10 drops into a hot bath for a relaxing soak or just apply 2 drops of your ylang ylang/carrier oil blend to the back of your neck. It will immediately go to work to relieve that tension.

11. Enhance Your Libido

Use your ylang ylang essential oil blend to enhance your libido. If you use coconut oil as your carrier oil, it makes a great massage oil blend. Do a deep lower back and shoulder massage or practice some aromatherapy whil
