Summary:
The Neck Hammock is a revolution when it comes to treating neck pain at home. It is practical, easy to use, and simple to set up – and most importantly, it works. With this in mind, it is the perfect way to treat neck, back, and shoulder pain, in a very short amount of time.
Neck Pain Is Extremely Common
Neck pain is arguably one of the most frustrating (and dare I say, debilitating) issues to plague modern society. It is not only uncomfortable, but it can have you literally moving like a robot for days at a time.
Interestingly, it doesn’t stop there.
People who suffer from chronic neck pain have generally been shown to have a lower quality of life, while many of which are also known to be at an increased risk of mental disease and associated reductions in emotional wellbeing [1].
In short, it is so much more than just neck pain.
Which is why when I stumbled upon the Neck Hammock, I was so impressed.
I wanted to write this Neck Hammock review to let our readers know whether this device works and what my experience has been with it.
How Does the Neck Hammock Work?
Neck pain can present itself completely out of blue, in which it can result from several different causes [2]. Some of those that are most common include:
- Weak and tight neck muscles: Spending too much time in undesirable positions (sitting at your desk, for example) can cause the muscles of the neck and upper back to become tight and stiff. Over time, these muscles remain in a shorted state, in which they gradually become both weaker and tighter through a general lack of use. These muscles can then cause alterations in movement and increases in neck pain – both of which are pretty undesirable if you ask me.
- Joint alterations within the cervical spine: In conjunction with the above, over the course of a lifetime we can also see alterations in the joint strictures of the cervical spine. In the above scenario, the spine itself can become short and compressed, leading to compression of the spinal discs, which results in pain. Moreover, general wear and tear can also cause the joints of the spine to become rigid, further limiting movement and increasing pain.
Which is exactly where the Neck Hammock enters the discussion.
The Neck Hammock is essentially a cervical traction device for neck pain.
This means that when you place your head in the Neck Hammock, it gently stretches and relaxes the muscles of the neck, while simultaneously ‘distracting’ and expanding the spaces between the discs of your cervical spine.
This helps to oxygenate your muscles, ligaments, and tendons, providing pain relief and mobility to your shoulder blades, neck, spinal cord, and entire body – all while reducing neck pain!
Is the Neck Hammock Easy to Use?
I’ll keep this section as short as possible – yes, extremely.
To use the neck hammock, you simply hang the device from a door handle (or anything else that can keep it nice and stable), and then lie down with your head in the hammock for 5-10 minutes with your head elevated about 3 inches from the floor.
Proceed to lie here and feel the tension slowly leave your body.
See? Easy.
Who is the Neck Hammock for?
The neck Hammock is literally for anyone who suffers from neck pain, in both chronic and acute scenarios.
If you feel tension in your neck and shoulders after sleeping wrong, after a long day of work, or even after a bout of exercise, then this is going to be absolutely perfect for you.
Moreover, it should also provide relief to those individuals who regularly suffer from migraines and tension headaches, as it can help relax the tissues directly involved.
Who Should NOT Use the Neck Hammock?
The Neck Hammock is extremely safe, which ultimately means that there isn’t necessarily a single group of people who shouldn’t use it.
Because its mechanism of action is extremely gentle, there is no real risk of exacerbating the problem.
Additionally, as it is portable, quick, and very easy to use, it is perfectly suitable for those individuals who find themselves poor on time or unable to get to a specialist for neck treatment.
It really is suitable for all.
Is the Neck Hammock Effective?
Now I appreciate that this sounds all well and good in theory – but does it actually work?
Obviously, I had to put it to the test.
And boy was I happy with the results.
Before I get into the details, ill offer a little bit of background. I spend a lot of time at my desk. Like, around 10 hours per day – of which the vast majority consists of writing, typing, researching, and emailing.
So, in short, I spend a lot of time sitting.
As a result, I often find myself getting really nasty tension headaches, a sore neck and upper back, and extremely stiff shoulders.
With this in mind, I was super excited to give the Neck Hammock a whirl.
Every single day this week I got home from work, hung the Neck Hammock up in my loungeroom, put on some music, and lied straight down.
At first, the feeling of the Hammock gently distracting my neck was a little bit odd, but after about 30 seconds I could literally feel the muscle tension leaving my entire upper body. With this came an overwhelming sense of relaxation, which I must admit, was very pleasant.
After about 10 minutes, I would stand up, and every single time my neck pain was gone.
More than that, I felt energised, had much better movement at my shoulders and arms, and found myself feeling an overwhelming sense of physical comfort.
Within this, I have not had one iota of neck pain this entire week, even after a long day of work.
Interestingly, I have also found myself sleeping extremely well.
I truly believe that because the Hammock causes so much relaxation at the neck, that it allows me to become more comfortable in bed, and therefore less likely to wake up through the night.
It's honestly super effective.
My Recommendation
The Neck Hammock is honestly one of the most effective tools I have ever used. Designed to help treat neck, shoulder, and back pain, it offers a simple, effective and affordable method of treating all three simultaneously.
With this comes improved upper body function, and even improved sleep – all without the need to leave your own living room.
The Neck Hammock truly is an amazing piece of equipment – so what are you waiting for? Get rid of your neck pain for good!
